Installing BeanConnect

This chapter describes how to install, update and uninstall BeanConnect.

Installation directories

In the present manual, the various installation directories are designated as follows:

<BC_inst_dir>

Installation directory for the BeanConnect product files.

Default setting on Solaris and Linux systems: /opt/lib/bc65a00.

<BC_home>

Installation directory for the BeanConnect files and directories.

<MC_home>

Installation directory for the BeanConnect Management Console. By default, <MC_home> is a subdirectory of <BC_home>.

<Proxy_home>

Installation directory for the BeanConnect proxy container. By default, <Proxy_home> is a subdirectory of <BC_home>.

Note for Unix and Linux platforms

If the BeanConnect resource adapter or BeanConnect tools are to be installed via a graphical user interface on a Unix or Linux platform, then the environment variable DISPLAY must be set.

If automated installation (i.e. without a graphical user interface) is to be performed, then this must be configured via the corresponding Auto.xml file.
