For messages that require a response, MIP uses an interrogation mark as a standard answer. The interrogation mark is a reserved keyword in MIP. When the user enters an interrogation mark, MIP outputs the meaning and the response texts for this message and repeats the question.
% CMD0213 TERMINATE PROGRAM? (Y=YES; N=NO) ? 1. % ? The user requested program termination by hitting a % function key or by NEXT line input. % ! Y: causes the END statement to be executed % N: termination request is ignored % CMD0213 TERMINATE PROGRAM? (Y=YES; N=NO) 2.
The user enters a question mark. MIP outputs the meaning and the response texts for this message.
The message text is displayed a second time so that the user can then hopefully respond more easily.
