Shared PLAM

&pagelevel(4)&pagelevel

The library management system LMS creates and manages program libraries and processes the members that the libraries contain. Program libraries are PAM files with a substructure that are processed by the PLAM access method (program library access method) and used to store library members. Members are always cohesive volumes of data, such as source programs, macros, object modules and procedures.

Unrestricted multiple access is possible from different processors to libraries on a shared pubset, provided that the processors accessing the shared pubset form an XCS network. The programs necessary for the MSCF network can be made available in a shared PLAM library.
In the XCS network, synchronization takes place at the granularity of a library member. Otherwise modifying accesses are synchronized via OPEN/CLOSE by the file lock
manager, i.e. at the level of the entire library.

For the general conditions that permit multiple access, see the "LMS" manual [11 (Related publications )].
