Objectives and target groups of this manual

The present manual is designed both for nonprivileged users of HSMS and for the HSMS administrator.

Even nonprivileged HSMS users should have a working knowledge of BS2000, i.e. be familiar with the most important commands and, in particular, with the BS2000 Data Management System (DMS). Where HSMS is used as a backup server for workstations and PCs, nonprivileged users also require a certain knowledge of the UNIX file system (UFS).

The HSMS administrator should additionally be familiar with the UNIX file system (UFS), system management and computer center organization.
