Managing locations

In BS2000, locations can be assigned to tapes and the tape devices on which they are to be mounted.

The use of assigned locations enables the MAREN user to reserve tapes and the tape devices from a predefined set.

Locations must be defined for archive systems and can be defined for manual devices.

The names of the device depots installed in BS2000 using the ADD-DEVICE-DEPOT command must match the names of the locations in MAREN.

A tape from a specific location is selected either by naming the location explicitly in the tape request, through the default mechanism, through a reservation file, or through a MAREN exit.
