Deleting catalog entries

The following applies to MARENADM statements when deleting catalog entries for the tapes of the archive system:

• REMOVE-USER-VOLUMES

  The tape must first be exported from the archive system (see section “Exporting tapes”). Only then the catalog entry can be deleted from the MAREN catalog.

• REMOVE-FREE-VOLUMES

  The archive system’s free tapes can be removed from the MAREN catalog using this statement.

• DELETE-VOLUME-ENTRY

  This statement deletes MAREN catalog entries for tapes without any checks. The statement is intended for repair use only. If the corresponding tapes are still located in the archive system, there will be discrepancies between the MAREN catalog and the archive system.
