This statement activates guided dialog for the MODIFY-VOLUME-ATTRIBUTES command. As far as it is technically possible and makes sense, the predefined default values of the various operands are replaced by values which are valid for the specified tape’s catalog entry.
The EDIT-VOLUME-ATTRIBUTES statement is only permitted in interactive mode. It must not be used in command files (procedure and ENTER files).
If the user does not wish the next statement executed to be MODIFY-VOLUME-ATTRIBUTES, he/she should press the K1 key or enter *CANCEL in the NEXT field and select any other MAREN statement.
If the statement EDIT-VOLUME-ATTRIBUTES is used in unguided dialog, the user is prompted for the next statement by “//” or “%STMT”. Only if the user switches temporarily to guided dialog by entering “?”, the menu for the MODIFY-VOLUME-ATTRIBUTES statement is outputted containing the current values from the catalog entry for the tape.
