This statement is used to rename a foreign device type. The catalog entries which contain this type are not modified or deleted in the process.

Operands

DEVICE-TYPE = <structured-name 1..8>
Specifies the name under which the foreign device has been administered to date.

NEW-DEVICE-TYPE = <structured-name 1..8>
Specifies any name under which the foreign device will be administered in future.

Notes

  • Only foreign device types can be renamed. Device types which are known to the BS2000 are rejected.

  • A change of version of the BS2000 can result in the following situation: the name of a foreign device type is identical to the name of a device type which is supported for the first time in the new BS2000 version. In this case the name of the previously foreign device type is modified by the statement. The new device type which is now known to the BS2000 remains unchanged.
