The write-return exit is only executed if a modification has taken place. This exit is not executed if a modification was rejected for any reason, such as the catalog entry is password-protected and the password was not specified or the modification was not permitted by the write-request exit.
The return exit can perform the following action:
evaluate the changes made.
The return exit must not make any changes to the catalog entry, otherwise the loaded program, e.g. MARENCP, is terminated with message MARCP27.
Return codes
The return code is not evaluated for the write-return exit for modification.
