When installing the MT9750 emulation software, various components (BS2000 host, data transfer features, interface cards, emulation software) are logically linked to one another. To ensure error-free operation of MT9750, stick to the sequence described below when installing the emulation software.
Make sure your PC is set up for connection via LAN connection on the BS2000 system. If necessary, ask your mainframe system administrator.
Make sure that you have a TCP/IP connection to the host, e.g. using
ping <host-ip>
.
Installation and user dialog box language selection
After starting the setup program, select German or English as the language for the distribution program and the language in which the manuals are displayed.
The language selection in the installation routine sets the language for the user interface of the installed software and the Start menu entries.
Preparing a server for network installation (administration program)
The administration program helps the system administrator to prepare distribution of the program to the target systems. You can prepare a server for distributed installation and also create volumes (or images) for local installation of the program.
As part of server preparation, all the files for MT9750 are saved to a resource on the server, including an executable SETUP program. This is subsequently called up from the clients and carries out the installation as required by the user on the PC. The user can specify that only the configuration files will be copied to the client and the program files will be called up on the server (known as distributed installation). In turn, the system administrator can save pre-produced configuration files on the server.
