9750, 9755, 9756, 9758, 9762, 9763
See terminal.
ANSI
The 8 bit character set from the American National Standards Institute. MS Windows uses the ANSI character set. The first 128 characters correspond to those from the ASCII character set.
ASCII
Acronym for American Standard Code for Information Interchange. The ASCII character set defines a standard set of codes for text characters. You can normally edit and retrieve files containing ASCII characters using a text editing program. You can also retrieve the content of an ASCII file using the MS DOS command TYPE
or the UNIX command cat
.
BS2000
Mainframe operating system from Fujitsu Technology Solutions
BS2000 procedure
BS2000 command sequences that are saved in files are referred to as procedures.
Data display terminal
A data display terminal is made up of a screen, a system unit, and a keyboard. From a 9750 data display terminal, you can use a BS2000 computer. Today a data display terminal is emulated by a program such as MT9750.
Display attributes
Define how data is displayed on the screen. For example, an attribute can be a particular color on a color screen, or apply effects such as reverse display, flashing, high intensity, underline, etc.
Ethernet
A standard method for linking two computers, which results in a local network (LAN) based on the network protocol CSMA/CD (Carrier Sense Multiple Access with Collision Detection). The Ethernet software you require to use MT9750 is LAN1 V2.0.
Ethernet address
The Ethernet address is used to uniquely identify an Ethernet card. The address is 6 bytes long, is assigned by the manufacturer of the card and is unique globally.
Host
A computer integrated into a computer network with an associated operating system that serves clients or houses servers (i.e. provides services). The host to which a connection is established with MT9750 is a BS2000 host (synonym: mainframe)
Internet address
The Internet address is the network-wide unique address of a computer. The Internet address is assigned a computer name. A computer can be addressed using its Internet address or using the computer name.
Internet Protocol (IP)
IP is a protocol that selects paths in a computer network. The protocol uses the Internet address to specify the source and destination. These addresses contain information about which network and which computer is to be contacted.
Local Area Network (LAN)
A network in which all operating units and other devices are installed in close proximity to one another and can be connected to one another using cables.
Multiple session
In MT9750 you can use multiple sessions (up to 16) simultaneously. In this case, we refer to multiple sessions.
Online help
If any issues occur when using the MT9750 emulation software (e. g. with operation), you can get information about the problem in the Help menu or in a dialog box by clicking on the Help button.
Placeholder / wildcard
A character that can stand for any single character or group of characters. Placeholders are used for copying, deleting, and for other functions.
Protocol
Rules for data exchange between two computers, which determine the type of electrical connection, the data format, and the sequence of the data.
Session
A window on the screen in which the BS2000 prompt is displayed. A session is saved using the file extension .MTS.
Session recording
An MT9750 function that enables you to save your session with the host in a text file. This allows you to retain data that the BS2000 host displays on your PC, or to create stack program files.
TCP
TCP stands for Transport Control Protocol. TCP is a protocol that handles data transfer between two computers. TCP uses port numbers and allows multiplexing of the computer-computer addressing supported by the lower layers. The protocol includes mechanisms for securing data transfer.
User account, User ID
Character string with which the user can identify his or herself to the host operating system.
