As described in the chapter "Generating a network configuration", the local system must be notified of all important components in the network.
Dynamic generation is performed using BCAM commands. The AEC functionality also permits automatic extension of the configuration. The methods mentioned can be combined. It is also possible to perform static generation using a KOGS source (KOGS = configuration-oriented generator language). This is to be recommended only when KOGS sources still exist and still need to be used.
An overview of the groups of components which must be defined using the specified means is provided below. You will find all the information required for the various generations in the chapter "Generating a network configuration". You will find associated examples in the chapter "Examples". Where it makes sense, KOGS macros are also presented in the examples of static generation.
KOGS generations do not support IPv6 fully. VLAN and link aggregations are not supported by this method. The KOGS generations will no longer be updated.
