The internal control LAN which utilizes the IPv6 functionality was introduced to support SE servers. This internal control LAN is called an MCNPR (Management Control Network Private). A distinction must be made between the non-redundant and the redundant control LANs. This control LAN is reserved for Customer Support and is used principally to support the display functions and administration in an SE server.
To simplify initial installation of an SE server, various templates have been introduced: In addition to the two templates for configuring the non-redundant and the redundant control LANs, there are also files for the local administration LANs which are known as MANLO (Management Administration Network Local). These templates take into account the standard requirements for the configuration of an SE server which are made internally. The requirements concern the specification of names to be used, the IPv4 address specifications for the local administration LANs and the device mnemonics of these LANs which are to be used. Further networks can also be derived from the templates by using them as a pattern and adapting them as required.
These templates are supplied as text files. You are recommended to copy these files when you wish to adjust them and to begin the actual configuration of the network on the basis of the copies. The following templates are available:
