DNS Resolver connection

&pagelevel(2)&pagelevel

The GETDNS program (ported to BS2000) implements a central DNS Resolver connection for BCAM and SOCKETS(BS2000). SOCKETS(POSIX) is connected indirectly to the DNS Resolver connection via the SOCKETS(BS2000) subsystem.
SOCKETS(POSIX and BS2000) user programs utilize a version of GETDNS integrated into the SOCKETS subsystem. SOCKETS system programs and BCAM use a second instance of GETDNS, which is realized within the DNS-CLIENT.

In the standard configuration, the DNS-CLIENT GETDNS can be accessed under the local loopback address and port 921.

By default, the GETDNS program is started by the DCSTART/DCOPT command (see also section “Configuring GETDNS”).
