SNMP stands for Simple Network Management Protocol and was developed as a protocol for network management services in the TCP/IP Internet.
Scope of application
The supervision and administration of LAN components such as bridges, routers, hubs etc. in heterogeneous networks with TCP/IP protocols was originally the only task of SNMP. Now the area of application of SNMP has been extended to include system and application management. Similar to TCP/IP, where the term does not only refer to the protocol itself, but the entire network, SNMP does not only stand for the protocol, but for the entire corresponding management system.
BCAM supports SNMP management via a private FJ-BCAM-MIB.
A detailed presentation can be found in the manual SNMP-AGENTS.
