LAN

&pagelevel(4)&pagelevel

LANs (local area networks) connect systems that are located on the same site and are linked via a uniform transport medium. In recent years, some LAN technologies have become established as industry standards, e.g. Ethernet or Token Ring, all of which differ in topology, access methods and addressing.

However, one characteristic common to all LANs is the high transmission speed.

BCAM supports LANs in accordance with ISO and TCP/IP and TCP/IPv6.
BCAM also supports virtual LANs (IEEE 802,1Q), called VLANs for short. Further information is provided in the section “VLAN support in BCAM”.
