Starting nslookup
start-nslookup [-server address | name] address | name
or
nslookup [-server address | name] address | name
Online help: nslookup -h
Usage: [-server address | name] address | name
You can use the server option to define the DNS name or IP/IPv6 address of the name server which is to be used. If this option is not specified, nslookup uses the default name server defined in the configuration file SYSDAT.LWRESD.<vvv>.RESOLV.CONF or in the RESOLV-FILE, if declared.
When DNS names are converted to addresses, nslookup outputs both IP and IPv6 addresses, if any exists.
nslookup can also be executed in interactive mode. This can be useful when multiple queries have to be started because the waiting time for the program startup will only occur once.
If nslookup is called without an operand, it runs in interactive mode, i.e. queries can be entered until the program is terminated with the exit command.
