mkfs - make file system

&pagelevel(4)&pagelevel

mkfs creates a ufs file system by writing on the special file file. mkfs waits 10 seconds before starting to build the file system. During this time you can abort the command by pressing CTRL+C.

Syntax

mkfs[ -F ufs][ -V][ -m|-s][ -q][ -y][ -o specific options] file[ size]

Caution!
The functionality of the mkfs command is incorporated in the POSIX installation program (see the manual "POSIX Basics for Users and System Administrators" [1]), so it is not described in further detail here.
