Using standard POSIX functions for sockets

The functions described in this section are standard POSIX library functions. The functions concerned are

• close() - close socket
• fcntl() - control sockets
• ioctl() - control sockets
• poll() - multiplex input/output
• read(), readv() - receive a message from a socket
• select() - multiplex input/output
• write(), writev() - send a message from socket to socket

Only the particulars for using them with sockets are described in this section.
