File types

There are three types of syntax file:

• system syntax files

• group syntax files

• user syntax files

In addition to the system syntax files, one group and one or more user syntax files may be activated for a task. In this context, there is a fixed file hierarchy that determines how SDF is to work with more than one syntax file (see section “File hierarchy”).

SDF-A supports syntax files with and without a PAM key.
