Function keys

Certain functions can be executed simply by pressing a function key. The effects of the function keys depend on how the SDF option FUNCTION-KEYS is set.
There are two assignment modes: the previous ‘Old mode’ (*OLD-MODE) and the new ’Styleguide mode’ (*STYLE-GUIDE-MODE), which offers greater functionality. The terminal type selected in the terminal emulation, however, must support Styleguide mode.

*OLD-MODE

Exit function
Exits the current program. A message prompts the user to confirm whether
the program should be terminated.
During a correction dialog at command/statement entry (see the NO form),
the function terminates only the correction dialog.
Equivalent to in Styleguide mode.

Interrupt function
Interrupts a current program or a procedure, or aborts output of a command.

Exit-all function
Exits the current program. A message prompts the user to confirm whether
the program should be terminated.
During a correction dialog at command/statement entry (see the NO form),
the function terminates only the correction dialog.
Equivalent to in Styleguide mode.

*STYLE-GUIDE-MODE

Interrupts a current program or a procedure, or aborts output of a command.

Help function
Switches to temporarily guided dialog.
Equivalent to entering “?”.

Exit function
Exits the current program. A message prompts the user to confirm whether
the program should be terminated.

function terminates only the correction dialog.
Equivalent to in Old mode.

Exit-all function
Exits the current program. A message prompts the user to confirm whether
the program should be terminated.
During a correction dialog at command/statement entry (see the NO form),

Redisplays the last command or statement entered.
Equivalent to entering “RESTORE-SDF-INPUT” without operands (default:
INPUT=*LAST-CMD or *LAST-STMT).

the program should be terminated.
During a correction dialog at command/statement entry (see the NO form),
the function terminates only the correction dialog.

In Styleguide mode, the function keys ,andthrough are not supported. Pressing an unsupported function key causes an error message to be displayed.
