Changes since the last edition of the manual

The changes for this version focus primarily on operating the ETERNUS 500/600 S5 and ETERNUS AF650 S3 storage systems. The description of these storage systems can be found in chapter "Storage systems in BS2000".

Another focus is the operation of the new and changed functionality of these storage systems:

  • Improved Storage Cluster and Continious Copy Support

The following additional major changes have been made since the last edition of this manual:

  • Support for wildcards in UNIT operand for all SHOW-commands

  • The commands ADD-SYMMETRIX-RA-GROUP, MODIFY-SYMMETRIX-RA-GROUP and REMOVE-SYMMETRIX-RA-GROUP is omitted
  • The operand UNIT=*BY-CONTROLLER is omitted in all impacted commands.
  • In case of error NDE1120 in START-CLONE-SESSION or RESTART-CLONE-SESSION command with rename (NEW-PUBSET=...) and CLONE-TYPE=*COPY all Clone-VSNs are deleted, to prevent double VSNs
  • ETERNUS DX S2 systems are not supported with SHC-OSD V14.0 anymore
  • The Products CM-LR und CM-RR are omitted
  • The term CIMOM-SERVER was replaced by MANAGEMENT INSTANCE in all messages and outputs
  • In command START-CLONE-SESSION with CLONE-TYPE=*COPY the clone unit can be bigger than the original
  • In command START-REMOTE-COPY the target unit can be bigger than the source,
  • The command SHOW-CLONE-SESSION-STATUS shows additional information about the cluster name, cluster phase and cluster status with operand INF=*CONTINUOUS-COPY (SYSOUT und S-variable)
  • The command SHOW-STORAGE-CONFIGURATION shows the amount of BS2000 volumes in a storage system with operand INF=*STD (SYSOUT-Ausgabe und S-Variable)
  • The command SHOW-SHC-ENVIRONMENT displays interface information for each (management)instance of a Storman server
  • Support for S-Servers is obsolete
  • Beginning with ETERNUS DX S5/AF S3 systems STOP-SNAP-SESSION can end any SnapOPC+ snap sessions, not just the oldest.

Changes in version V14.0A01:

  • StorMan logs can now be saved from BS2000 with SHC command MODIFY-SHC-PROCESSING SAVE-STORMAN-TRACES=*YES
  • The command RESTART-SNAP-SESSION, which is mainly related with TimeFinder/Snaps on Symmetrix, is supported in this version the last time
