Installation
For SE servers, StorMan is installed as an add-on pack for the SE Manager on the Management Unit (MU) and used for storage management.
For usage with SHC-OSD the StorMan version may need an upgrade. In this case perform the installation steps described in the "Operation and Administration" manual [13] in the SE Manager. Please and check the release notes of SHC-OSD and StorMan for details.
Please refer also to the section “Embedding of StorMan”.
The components for the StorMan server are supplied with SHC-OSD, see section “Selectable unit StorMan”. The StorMan client is integrated into SHC-OSD.
In the case of a multi-MU configuration (MU redundancy on the SE server or management cluster with two SE servers), StorMan is installed on each MU. Only one StorMan at a time is connected and active for SHC-OSD.
Information on configuring multiple StorMan servers is provided in section “Multiple StorMan servers”.
Network connection
Communication between SHC-OSD and StorMan is implemented over a LAN (TCP/IP). The internal management network (MNCPR) of BS2000 (Server Unit) to the M2000 (port: 4178) is used primarily for StorMan. The customer LAN can also be used.
Enter the StorMan connection data in the SHC-OSD parameter file after installing SHC-OSD (see “Parameters for operating ETERNUS DX/AF” in "Configuration of SHC-OSD").
StorMan requires a LAN connection to the managed storage systems.
For details, see the “StorMan” manual [15]. The customer LAN can be used for the network connection.
Version dependencies SHC-OSD and StorMan
In heterogeneous environments and in particular with VM2000 running different BS2000 versions with different SHC-OSD versions may share a common StorMan server.
SHC-OSD supports different StorMan versions with upward compatibility. Version upgrades have to be processed on StorMan first and afterwards on SHC-OSD.
The supported feature set is defined by the respective SHC-OSD version.
The supported combinations of SHC-OSD and StorMan versions are documented in the SHC-OSD Release Notes at https://bs2manuals.ts.fujitsu.com
