Installing VM2000

You obtain the software product VM2000 as part of a software delivery via the SOLIS delivery system. The installation of VM2000 is carried out using the IMON installation monitor, see the “IMON” [14] manual.

VM2000 consists of the release units VM2000-MON (VM2000 monitor), VM2000-UTIL (VMDUMP) and VM2000-HPV (VM2000 hypervisor, only for SU /390).

The files of the release units VM2000-MON and VM2000-HPV are installed on the TSOS user ID by IMON. Following installation they can be moved manually from TSOS to another user ID. The new file names may then need to be specified as fully qualified names (e.g. in the VM2000 parameters).

For the release unit VM2000-UTIL (VMDUMP) the user ID can be selected when installation takes place.

The application of VM2000 must be prepared following installation using IMON. Details of this are provided in the sections below.

1	<ver> stands for the version identifier, e.g. 120 for VM2000 V12.0
2	The RMS delivery quantities (SYSRMS...) are already incorporated in the RMS depot when installation takes place using IMON. They are stored in separate REP files for the VM2000 hypervisor (SU /390), VM2000 monitor and VMDUMP by RMS at loader setup.
3	The message file is already incorporated in the MIP parameter file at installation using IMON or subsequently using /MODIFY-MIP-PARAMETERS and activated by MIP. See also "Installing the VM2000 message files".
