Update installation under Windows systems

This section describes how you can update the proxy container and Management Console installation under Windows.

Before running an update installation you have to guarantee that the current common resources are installed. Proceed this like a new installation of common resources.

Only the dialog boxes that differ from those displayed during a new installation are described here. You work with all the other dialog boxes in the same way as for a new installation (see Installing BeanConnect under Windows systems).

Starting the update installation for proxy container
 

You have to stop the proxy container before you start the update installation.

Start the installation (see .Installing BeanConnect under Windows systemsand choose Next in dialog box Welcome.

  1. Installation Option dialog box
    To update a BeanConnect proxy container select between the option

    Proxy Container: update installation WITH uninstallation
    (with uninstallation of the existing proxy container installation)
    and 
    Proxy Container: update installation WITHOUT uninstallation  
    (without uninstallation of the existing proxy container installation)

    After selection the dialogs openUTM Directory, JAVA Directory and BeanConnect Common Resources Directory will be performed and you will be asked for the existing proxy container directory.

  2. Existing Proxy Container Directory to update dialog box
    Specify the proxy container home directory that has to be updated.

Then the dialogs Target Proxy Container Directory to install, Proxy Container Program Group, Permit ports through the windows firewall and Final Confirmation will be performed.

The update installation performs the following actions:

  • The existing proxy container home directory is copied and saved in the directory <BC_home>\<proxy_cont_name>.save. This directory is not changed by the update installation. All the configuration data of the proxy container are retained.
  • The existing proxy container is uninstalled if you selected this option.
  • A new proxy container is installed in the target proxy container home directory.
  • The existing configuration is moved to the new proxy container.

Update Installation Management Console

Start the installation (see "Installation procedure" in Installing BeanConnect) and select in the dialog box Welcome the button Next.

  1. Installation Option dialog box
    To update a BeanConnect Management Console select between the options

    Management Console: update installation WITH uninstallation (with uninstallation of the existing Management Console installation.)
    und
    Management Console: update installation WITHOUT uninstallation (without uninstallation of the existing Management Console installation).

    After selection the dialogs JAVA Directory and BeanConnect Common Resources Directory will be performed and you will be asked for the existing Management Console directory.

  2. Existing BeanConnect Management Console Directory to update dialog box
    Specify the Management Console home directory that has to be updated.

Then the dialogs Target BeanConnect Management Console Directory to install, BeanConnect Management Console Program Group and Final Confirmation will be performed.

The update installation performs the following actions:

  • The existing Management Console home directory is copied and saved in the directory <BC_home>\<console_name>.save. This directory is not changed by the update installation. All the configuration data of the Management Console are retained.
  • The existing Management Console is uninstalled if you selected this option.
  • A new Management Console is installed in the target Management Console home directory.
  • The existing configuration files are read from <console_name>.save and copied to the new Management Console home directory.
