This chapter explains the layers within the architecture of an MSCF network.
The basic level is the hardware, i.e. BS2000 servers and their connection media.
In the level above that, the communication system makes sure that the preconditions for communication between the processors are satisfied.
In the level above that, the function network ensures that functions that were initially only available locally are made available throughout the network by "distributed system functions" (which use the communication system).
