Setting MAREN parameters

See “Setting MAREN parameters” (Configuration on the local system).

Setting up a MAREN network

Multiple BS2000 systems on which MAREN is installed and configured can operate in a MAREN network with a central MAREN catalog. BS2000 systems support must configure and activate communications connections for a MAREN network. Detailed information on MAREN networks is provided in the section “MAREN network”.

Setting up domains

A MAREN network can be divided into groups of BS2000 systems, so-called domains. Detailed information on domains is provided in the section “Domains in a MAREN network”.

Setting up a locations

Tapes and tape devices can be grouped at so-called locations. Detailed information on locations is provided in the chapter “Managing locations”.

The location can be defined with a reservation file (see section “Location management via a reservation file”). The MAREN administrator creates and edits the reservation file using the MARENLM program (see section “Editing the reservation file with MARENLM”) or an editor.
