The reserve-return exit is executed when a reservation has been performed. This exit is not executed if the reservation request was rejected for any reason, such as no free tape was available in the specified range of numbers or the reservation was not permitted by the reserve-request exit.
The complete catalog entry for the reserved tape is passed to the return exit, where it can be evaluated. This allows the archive number of the reserved tape (catalog entry field ARCHIVNR) to be used as the VSN in DMS commands.
The return exit must not make any changes to the catalog entry, otherwise MARENCP is terminated with message MARCP27
.
Return codes
The return codes are not evaluated for the reserve-return exit for reservation.
