Objectives and target groups of this manual

The “MAREN System Administrator Guide” describes the installation and configuration of MAREN by BS2000 systems support, as well as the management of tapes and MAREN in the data center by the privileged MAREN user, in particular the administrator program MARENADM.

The manual is consequently intended for BS2000 systems support, the operating staff in the data center, and the privileged MAREN user.

The “MAREN User Guide” [1] provides an introduction to the management of tapes in the data center and the management of tapes in BS2000 with MAREN. This is followed by a description of the MAREN functions for the nonprivileged MAREN users, in particular the MAREN user program.

It forms the basis for understanding this system administrator manual.
