Objectives and target groups of this manual

This “MAREN User Guide” provides an introduction to the management of tapes in a data center and the management of tapes in BS2000 with MAREN. This is followed by a description of the MAREN functions for the nonprivileged MAREN users, in particular the MAREN user program. The manual is consequently intended for organizers in the data center, BS2000 systems support, operating staff, and MAREN users (privileged and nonprivileged).

The “MAREN System Administrator Guide” [1] describes the installation and configuration of MAREN by BS2000 systems support, as well as the management of tapes and of MAREN in the data center by the privileged MAREN user, in particular the administrator program MARENADM.
