Location

A location is an archive with tapes and tape devices in a BS2000 system. The distribution of the tapes to different locations is organized and managed by the MAREN administrator. The distribution of the tape devices to different locations is the task of BS2000 systems support.

Together with the type of tape, the location is a selection criterion for a free tape being reserved by the user. When no location is specified by the user, an implicit selection is made by MAREN.

The MAREN administrator has the task of creating and managing locations. This is described in the “MAREN System Administrator Guide” [1].
