Releasing a tape

Reserved tapes are released when the expiration date stored in the catalog entry field FREE-DATE is reached. They are then available again to be reserved.

MAREN users wishing to release a tape prematurely must do so using the MODIFY-VOLUME-ATTRIBUTES statement to set the release date to the current date. The tape will be released in the next release run, which is usually carried out daily by the MAREN administrator.
