The compose\ function enables characters to be composed if there are no keys for them on the keyboard. On PC keyboards, this function is represented by the [Alt Gr] key.
The compose function is only available if:
DSS and host application are running in 8-bit mode, and
the DSS interconnection setting is Computer.

Composing characters
- Press the
[Alt Gr]key and release it. Enter a sequence of characters that is contained in the compose character table in section “Compose characters”. The composed character is now displayed on the screen.
If the sequence of characters you entered is invalid, an acoustic signal sounds and no character is displayed on the screen; you then have to start the whole operation from the beginning by pressing the [Alt Gr] key again. If you press the [Alt Gr] key accidentally, you can cancel the operation using the [<--] (backspace) key.
