The terminal parameters are session-specific, i.e. they can only be configured after setting up and opening a session.
- Open Configuration > Terminal Settings (DSS) from the menu.
- Specify the DSS Mode, DSS Interconnection, DSS Type, and Character Set parameters.
DSS Mode and Character Set
The DSS mode sets a local operating mode that affects the character set to be used.
The DSS mode should always be synchronized with the relevant host application. The Character Set field is used to select which national character set is to be displayed on the screen for the selected DSS mode.
7 Bit
If the 7 Bit DSS mode is set, a 7-bit character set corresponding to the national variation currently selected in the Character Set section is activated. Currently supported national variations:
- International
Danish
German
English
French
Italian
Sweden
Spanish
8 Bit or Unicode
If 8 Bit or Unicode is set as the DSS mode, a total of 191 characters and special characters are available. In these modes, the character set variations in the ISO standards 8859-1, -2, -5, -7, -9, and -15 are supported (Latin alphabet, mixed with a choice of Cyrillic, Greek, Turkish), see section “7-bit / 8-bit / Unicode character sets”.
To use 8-bit character sets or Unicode, BS2000 needs to control the data display terminal in 8-bit mode (see for example parameter TIAM-PERM8 in the manual VTSU [6]).
DSS Type
Some host applications check the type of the connected terminal. By default, MT9750 sessions login as a 9763 terminal. If the host application expects a different type, it can be changed here. This means that the host application does not have to be adapted.
The types available for selection are DSS 9750, 9755, 9756, 9758, 9762, and 9763.
In the case of changed session parameters, the changes are automatically saved.
The Partner Characteristic parameter only relates to passive sessions, see section “Setting up a passive session” .
Special parameters of the terminal
Some events while using MT9750 are displayed or requested using messages. The associated user actions may, under some circumstances, interrupt work in the emulation.
In the Configuration > Special Parameters menu, it is possible to suppress dialog boxes for terminated connection (TCP/IP connections) and for changed session parameters
You can enable or disable copying to the clipboard when selecting text, and release the cursor after selecting the area.
And it is also possible to configure trace path and level (details see in section "Diagnostic File")
