Automatic end system creation (AEC)

&pagelevel(3)&pagelevel

Automatic end system creation (AEC) permits automatic generation of a partner system and/or its route at the time of the first communication relationship. AEC enables you to operate BCAM with a minimum network configuration by means of dynamic or static generation. The minimum configuration comprises the accesses to the network and the connected routers.

You enable and disable AEC using the BCOPTION ... AUTOMATIC-ES-CREATE command. Here you can also filter according to protocol types and triggering events, see the section "Activating AEC" (General control using BCAM options).

The following control options are also available which are effective when AEC is enabled:

  • You can use the BCAM control files to set AEC for specific partners, see the chapter "BCAM control files" and the section "Open and controlled server operation".

  • You can permit AEC via DNS access, see the chapter "DNS Resolver connection".

  • You have a further option for partners who are created neither via BCAM control files nor via DNS:

You can enable open, unhindered access to local or remote applications which must be defined using their port numbers. You use the BCOPTION ... ADD(-REMOTE)-SERVER-PORTS command to do this, see the section "BCOPTION: Change mode options".

When this option is set, only access to the port numbers concerned is granted regardless of the control file contents, i.e. the partner can only communicate with these applications.

  • You can define the IP address ranges permissible for communication. You use the BCOPTION ... ADD/REMOVE-IP-RANGE command to do this, see section"BCOPTION: Change mode options". This setting is also independent of the control file contents.

AEC generates an entry in the BCAM routing tables which has a limited period of validity. The entries generated in this way are released with a time delay after communication with the partner concerned has terminated. The release interval is at least 20 minutes.

Examples of AEC are provided in the section "Examples of automatic end system creation".
