SLOW-POLL = OFF / ON

You use a BCACT command for a LAN node to activate the LAN node and the processors which can be accessed via this node.
The setting of the BROADCAST, ARP, RARP and ISO9542 operands of the BCOPTION command is OFF. A possible change to this setting must be made before activation of the LAN node.

  • BROADCAST=ON

    must be set if L2 broadcast messages (e.g. ARP requests) are to be received via the LAN channel adapter.

  • ARP=QUIET / ON

    must be set if ARP requests are sent for updating the local assignment of IP addresses to LAN addresses. This is always necessary where IP partners are generated without LAN addresses, or automatic end system creation is to be used in the IP area.

  • ISO9542=ON

    must be set if the ISO9542 routing protocol is used. This is only useful if partner end systems exist which support the corresponding protocol. ISO9542 is an ES – IS (end system – intermediate system) protocol and is required for use in networks with routers and for automatic end system creation in the ISO area.

  • RARP=ON

    must be set if RARP requests are processed. This is only useful if partner systems are defined with RARP=YES during generation.

NODE=<node-name 1..8>
Name of the LAN node to be activated

ACT=...
Specifies the group of objects to be activated in addition to the LAN node.

ACT=ONLY / LOCAL
The operation is only performed for the specified LAN node.

ACT=NODE
The operation is performed for the LAN node itself and for all processors directly connected to the LAN which can be accessed via this LAN node.

ACT=ALL
The operation is performed for the LAN node itself and for all processors which can be accessed via the LAN.

SLOW-POLL=...
Defines the SLOW-POLL behavior for line ports to LAN nodes.
SLOW-POLL is only set if the affected connection is not active.

SLOW-POLL=OFF
No reactivation following a line failure.

SLOW-POLL=ON
Causes automatic reactivation following a line failure. This reactivation is attempted every 15 seconds until it succeeds or until a BCDAC or BCOUT command is issued.

Command logging

For reasons of compatibility, positive acknowledgments are supplied in news BCA0763, and negative acknowledgments in news BCA0762, followed by the message NBR0740. In addition, for positive acknowledgments, the messages BCA08D2 and BCA0622 may also appear.
A description of the error messages that may be issued during command processing is provided in the table below.
