You use this command to close down the following components:
hosts (in this case, virtual hosts),
lines
LAN nodes
processors
routes
In addition to closing down the specified objects, you can also deactivate other objects. Connections to partners which are closed down are cleared.
Optionally, a warning can be sent to applications which maintain a connection to a terminal belonging to the system. You receive a connection shutdown request for each connection. The warning consists of a notice specifying that the applications (apart from system applications) and the connections are being closed down. This enables controlled termination of the affected applications or connections. If connections still exist after the warning time has expired, these are then automatically shut down. The warning time is 10 seconds, as long as no other time is specified for the WARN operand using the BCTIMES command.
No warning is given to the applications for connections to remote processors. This can only be done for the relevant processor by means of an explicit BCOUT.
If you want to reactivate the processor, you must issue the BCIN command and possibly the BCACT command for it. This is also a requirement for opening connections to applications of this system. If the processor-name is not reloaded by the BS2000 system, you can activate the function of the BCACT command in the BCIN command using the ACT=Y operand.
