The checklist below shows which commands and settings should be specified in which order, and which operands may need to be used to do this:
In a SOF file the first command must be the DCOPT command.
Only host- or system-specific branching instructions can also be included ahead of a DCOPT command.
The default settings should be used as far as possible. In this way the memory sizes of PAGMEM and RESMEM are set in accordance with the system configuration. When these values were set explicitly in the past and the default values were not used, this frequently led to problems when the BCAM version was changed and the SOF file was not adjusted. One possible result was that it was impossible to establish a connection.
Files and job variables which have to be defined on the home pubset must be specified individually.
Next the following commands can be specified, with exceptions:
Options: MODIFY-BCAM-OPTIONS/BCOPTION
Parameter: BCMOD
However, not all the operands must be set so early on. For example, the options which relate to automatic end system creation or redundancy should be not be set yet.
CREATE commands (definition) before MODIFY commands (modifications) or ACTIVATE commands (activation). In some cases the modification should be made after activations.
CREATE commands:
HOST before NODE before PROCESSOR before ROUTE commands, i.e. initially all the necessary definitions are specified. All the modifications required should be performed using MODIFY commands.
CAUTION!
When CREATE, MODIFY and ACTIVATE commands are mixed in redundant configurations, switching operations can take place early on.
What switching operations should there be for lines in redundant configurations?
You control switching operations using the AUTO-ROUTE-SWITCHING and ROUTE-RESWITCHING operands.
Should lines be activated again?
You control this using the SLOW-POLL operand.
Which command is used for the definition of the router property ?
Use the MODIFY-ADDRESS-ASSIGNMENT command instead of the MODIFY-ROUTE command.
ACTIVATE commands:
Activate LINES before NODE because a BCACT NODE=... triggers implicit line activation when the node is activated.
Settings which affect redundant configurations.
Settings which affect automatic end system creation.
Settings which affect the BCAM messages which can be answered, such as BCA0999, BCA07B2, etc.
Definition of the mapping entries.
If necessary, start the $DIALOG application
If necessary, start LWRESD (is started by BCAM by default).
Note
A SOF file can also be called during ongoing operation using the CALL-BCAM-COMMANDS command. In this case the introductory DCOPT command is ignored.
