Branching instructions in SOF files

&pagelevel(5)&pagelevel

In BCAM V20.0A and higher, BCAM enables the physical host or VMs to be queried using branching instructions. The system type, CPU ID or SYS ID, for example, can be used to do this. Additional host- and system-specific branching instructions are provided for this purpose, see section "Branching instructions". The following options are consequently available:

  • The complete network configuration for a host or multiple VMs is stored in the SOF. The branching instructions control which configuration definition is used. System-specific configurations are also taken into account by this control.

  • The data does not need to be maintained in more than one file.

  • The same host can be operated on two or more systems, e.g. a Business Server and a Backup Business Server (Business Server B), without modifying the SOF file.

The values used for control purposes can be determined in advance using the SHOW-SYSTEM-INFO command.

Example

An example in which the configuration of a data network with redundancy is defined in a SOF for multiple VMs is provided in the section "Example with branching instructions".

Note

Among other things, the line definition for the MU is specified in the SOF.

Different MU models which use different MNs or IP addresses may be used when the hardware hardware systems differ.

Depending on the system, different HNC configurations can also be used (e.g. multiple HNCs on the production system and only one HNC on the backup system).

All above-mentioned differences in the configuration must be activated on a system or VM-specific basis using branching instructions.
