Local use of the LWRESD

&pagelevel(5)&pagelevel

>

Specify /DCOPT or /DCSTART ...,LWRESD=YES, or use START-LWRESD to start up manually or using a procedure after BCAM has started.

>

Enter DNS server in the SYSDAT.LWRESD.nnn.RESOLV.CONF file.

>

Enter the DNS server(s) in the FQDN file of BCAM with IP or IPv6 address, with BCAM name and with DNS name. As a result an entry in the processor file is no longer required, and unnecessary accesses to the DNS server are avoided. Automatic end system creation must be permitted!

>

If necessary define restrictions to DNS access with /MODIFY-DNS-ACCESS.

>

Issue MODIFY-BCAM-OPTIONS DNS-OPTIONS=*PARAMETERS(DNS-USAGE=*ON).

>

You can display the settings specified most recently with SHOW-DNS-ACCESS.

>

Enter the desired (and necessary) settings for automatic end system creation in the. SOF file.

>

It must be ensured that the active LWRESD is configured appropriately, i.e. that at least a reachable and functional DNS server is entered, and the own domains which are to be used should be made known.
A description of LWRESD and its settings is provided in chapter "DNS Resolver connection"

Aliases are known in BCAM only if a computer is addressed via an alias. LWRESD does not enable aliases to be queried.

The mapping of DNS names to BCAM names introduced in BCAM remains unchanged. If a name clash occurs (which can happen when prefixes are identical), BCAM guarantees a locally unambiguous name.
