START-DNS-CLIENT - Starting GETDNS

You use the START-DNS-CLIENT command to start GETDNS processing. The DNS Resolver is started.

The standard case of starting GETDNS under TSOS can also be controlled using the DCOPT or DCSTART command.

List of valid command sources

START-DNS-CLIENT

LISTEN-PORT = <integer 1 .. 65535>

LISTEN-PORT=...
LISTEN-PORT for DNS handling.

LISTEN-PORT=<integer 1 .. 65535 >
Define the desired listen port.
If no listen port is entered, the default port 921 will be used.


Notes

Diagnostic data will be written to the file SYSTRC.GETDNS.<tsn>.

The JV subsystem is mandatory for the usage of GETDNS. Information is written to the following job variable:
$TSOS.SYS.PARAM.DNSC
