Command mode

&pagelevel(3)&pagelevel

WebAdmin offers a simple command mode in order to call Tacs in UTM applications directly. When you activate command mode, you will see a Page which allows you to send administration Tacs to a UTM application and displays the responses in a text window. The format of the responses corresponds to the familiar output format of openUTM.

Command mode can be activated in any of the following two ways:

  • Click on 'Command Mode' in the rack "UTM Application '<Name>'" in the sidebar.
  • Click on 'Command Mode' below the "Functions" section on the primary page of the UTM application.

The command mode page contains the following fields:

  • 'Convert to Upper Case' check box
If you check this box then WebAdmin converts the entered command to uppercase before sending it to UTM. However, if the first letter of the entered command is a '.' (period) then the period is removed from the command and the command is not converted to uppercase.
When you have sent data successfully in command mode, this option is automatically stored as a application-specific entry in the configuration database and is re-used the next time you activate command mode.
  • 'Automatic KDC Prefix' check box
If this box is checked, WebAdmin gives the entered command the prefix 'KDC' (if it is not already present) before sending it to UTM. In the same way as for the 'Convert to Upper Case' option, the action is not performed if the first character is a period.
When you have sent data successfully in command mode, this option is automatically stored as a user-specific entry in the configuration database and is re-used the next time you activate command mode.
  • 'Always Delete Output' check box
If this box is checked, WebAdmin clears the output text window before any new output.
When you have sent data successfully in command mode, this option is automatically stored as a user-specific entry in the configuration database and is re-used the next time you activate command mode.
  • 'Saved Commands' dropdown box
The commands that have been used the most are stored in the dropdown box and can be selected if required. The commands that are located at the top of the dropdown box are the ones that have been used most frequently. When you have sent data successfully in command mode, these commands are also stored WebAdmin user-specific in the configuration database together with their use counters and are loaded again when you next activate command mode.
The commands that have been send using the 'Send Last Output Line' button will not be considered here.
  • 'Command' edit box
You enter the command that is to be sent to UTM in the edit box.
  • 'Send' button
When you click this button, the content of the 'Command' edit box is sent to UTM. The transferred command and the response from UTM are displayed in the output text window.
  • 'Send Last Output Line' button
This button allows you to request a continuation of long output lists if the output of the application could not be transmitted in one go.
If you click this button, WebAdmin uses the last line in the output text window as a command and sends this to UTM.
  • 'Delete Output' button
A click on this button clears the output text window.
  • 'Delete Saved Commands' button
A click on this button clears all most frequently used commands of the WebAdmin user stored in the configuration database .
  • Output text window
The entered commands and UTM responses are displayed in this text window.

Note: Non-administration Tacs can also always be entered in command mode.
However, command mode is not suitable for asynchronous Tacs, for performing multi-step transactions or for displaying formatted program outputs.
WebAdmin aborts multi-step transactions after the first program unit run.
