All Server Units have the operating modes “Native operation” and “VM2000 operation”.
The operating mode is set using the SE Manager in the main menu (Server Unit selected) in the BS2000 operation mode tab.
On the SU /390, the operating mode can also be set using the functions of the SVP console. The SVP console can be opened in the SVP console tab in the SE Manager (SU /390 selected). |
When the Server Units are started, the operating mode of the previous session is set again.
Before switching the operating mode from “VM2000 operation” to “Native BS2000”, first all BS2000 guests systems and then the monitor system must be terminated, see section "Terminating the monitor system and VM2000".
Special considerations on the SU x86
On the SU x86, the operating mode can also be switched during ongoing operation. However, BS2000 systems must be terminated first.
Before switching the operating mode from “Native operation” to “VM2000 operation”, it may first be necessary to shut down the native BS2000 system of the domain BS2000
.
Switching the operating mode to “VM2000 operation” terminates the domain BS2000
and a domain with the domain name MONITOR
and the startup settings for the monitor VM is configured, see "Configuration using the SE Manager (SU x86)".
Switching the operating mode to “Native operation” terminates the domain MONITOR
