For error situations in shared mode, the consequences of a system breakdown depend on which system has crashed:
Remote system failure
The crash of a system with remote access to the MAREN catalog via RFA is not critical for MAREN operation on the other systems, since no locks are maintained on the MAREN catalog.
Failure of the system with the MAREN catalog
The crash of a system with direct access to the MAREN catalog requires organizational measures to continue MAREN operation on the remaining systems:
Shutting down MAREN on all systems. Currently active jobs attempting to access the MAREN catalog are all in the MAREN queue, with the exception of one. Handling of these jobs is described below.
The MAREN catalog must be imported to a system which is still intact. Care must be taken at hardware generation time to ensure that the disk device has connections to more than one system.
Restart MAREN on all systems using the updated catalog ID in the ENTER files, if necessary.
