Notational conventions

The following notational conventions are used in this manual:

Text

Path information, particularly in menus, file names and file extensions are written in italics - Example: Utilities > Record Macro > Start menu

[Enter]

Represents a key

Input

Input in examples is written in semi-bold typewriter font

Output

Outputs in examples, e.g. from the diagnostic file, are written in typewriter font

ERR

Displays in the status bar are written in typewriter font

<Name>

Text in pointed brackets is a placeholder for a variable


This symbol indicates important information.


This symbol indicates a warning notice relating to the possibility of data loss or other serious damage to data.

[ ]

The titles of related publications in the text are abbreviated. The complete title of each publication, which is referred to by a number, is listed in the Related Publications chapter after the associated number.
