Firewall entries in BCAM

&pagelevel(4)&pagelevel

A prerequisite for this procedure is that ACCESS=READ mode is set for the processor file (see also "Open and controlled server operation").

If BCAM cannot determine a partner end system (see the section “Control procedure”), the associated address is entered in a BCAM-internal firewall table. Systems with addresses which are entered in this table have no name and no way of accessing the host.

The SHOW-ROUTE and SHOW-ROUTE-PATH commands for the IP address or SHOW-BCAM-FIREWALL enable you to check whether a firewall entry exists for a particular address.

If you wish to grant a system which is entered in the firewall table access to the host, you must remove this system from the firewall table. The following alternatives are available to you to do this:

  • Enter the system in the processor file and then delete the processor and its route(s) using the DELETE-ROUTE command. Enter the IP address or IPv6 address as the ROUTE-NAME. A new route will be created when a connection is set up.

  • Delete the processor and its route(s) using the DELETE-ROUTE command. Enter the IP address or IPv6 address as the ROUTE-NAME. Then create the processor using BCAM commands.

  • If DNS is used, make the partner end system known in DNS.
